Stewardship Outreach

We are proud of the ongoing efforts of St. Agnes parishioners to reach out beyond our immediate parish community.  We are a tithing parish and as such, we are able to contribute 5% of our weekly collection to assist other agencies in the greater Concord area.

Some examples of our outreach are:

In 1998, 1999, and 2000, we participated in the FERST program by opening our Church Hall to homeless families and providing food and shelter for &one week during the winter months.

Every year during Easter week, our parishioners (mostly teen-agers journey to Mexico and build homes for the poor This is an extremely rewarding experience.

In the year 2000, our parish raised $18,000.00 to build a home with Habitat     for Humanity. Our parishioners worked hundreds of hours so people would have a new home.

Each year, our parish has a Giving Tree at Christmas for providing Christmas gifts for our less fortunate brothers and sisters.

St. Agnes parishioners provide meals at the Martinez and Concord homeless shelters several times during the year.
We participate in the Concord Share program providing food for those in need.
Our St. Agnes Herald reaches our entire parish with a monthly mailing.
Our own Stewardship Committee picks a family at Christmas and buys them gifts and food.
Several members of the Stewardship Committee served on the Oakland Diocese Stewardship Commission.  Members have spoken at two  International Stewardship Conference, the latest in Oct. 2005 in San Francisco.
The Stewardship Committee also given many workshops for the Oakland Diocese and is currently involved with the Stewardship Network for our deanery.

These are just a few examples of a very active Stewardship Program at St. Agnes.  We believe in our hearts that every time we have given “the first fruits of our labor”, we have been rewarded and blessed one hundred times over.
